Interview Chris Pratt (Emulators Unlimited) v Mathias Ortmann (Win32 UAE) 1) What is the current situation of UAE Win32? Brian D. King has taken over development for the moment and is adding a GUI, Picasso96 and AHI support, among other enhancements. A beta release of his work is available now. 2) When will the next version be out? In late November. 3) What plans do you have for Win32 UAE? The next steps are DirectSound support (NT 5.0 beta 1 fully supports it, so I finally have a way of testing this) and the integration of Bernd Schmidt's latest changes. 4) Have you considered making Win32 UAE compatible with the catweasle floppy controller like the Unix version is? As soon as a Win95 and/or NT driver is available for it. 5) What is the best system to run Win32 UAE? A PentiumII with an AGP graphics card, using 8 ns SDRAM and 83.3 MHz bus speed x4, I.e. overclocked to 333 MHz, and NT 5.0 beta 1 w/ DirectX 5. 6) Have you ever thought of doing another emulator? No. 7) You have two versions of UAE Win32 68000 and 68020, do you intend on extending this to 030, 040 or even 060? As soon as Amiga software pops up that requires an 030, 040 or 060, Bernd Schmidt will consider implementing the appropriate options in the CPU emulation.
